The Surprising Truth about Clarity & How to Find It
Clarity is one of those words we often hear but rarely stop to think deeply about. It’s not just about seeing clearly—it’s about understanding, precision, purity, and even sanity. As I performed the promised WordHippo search from last week’s podcast, I was blown away by the depth of this single word.
Clarity is:
– Coherence and intelligibility
– Transparency and purity
– Intuitive understanding and insight
– Richness of flavor, sound, or vision
– The quality of being clean, bright, and illuminated
- And even one’s sanity
- Try it! WordHippo it yourself!
Each of these meanings offers a perspective on what it truly means to live with clarity. But clarity isn’t something we passively acquire—it’s something we actively create. And often, we create it by embracing the second backward law in The Creator-based® Way, “Focus Out to Bring More In”
Society teaches us that the path to happiness, success, and fulfillment is to focus inward: on our goals, our desires, and our personal growth. But the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as the wisdom of many great thinkers, teaches us a surprising truth: When we turn outward, we are filled inwardly.
Jesus put it plainly:
He that loseth his life for my sake shall find it” (Matthew 10:39).
The Dalai Lama said said it this way,
“The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater our own sense of well being.”
This principle is transformative. When we focus outward, serving others, loving our Creator, and aligning our lives with His will—we are not depleted but filled. It seems so backward, but it’s real.
“No one has ever become poor by giving.” Anne Frank
In the Creator-based® Way the first and most important “C” is Creator. When He becomes the focus of our lives, something extraordinary happens:
We Align with a Benevolent Universe. Our lives become guided by eternal principles, not fluffy spur of the moment pursuits. This alignment brings a profound sense of clarity and peace, and the Universe seeks to fulfill our life purpose. We Gain long term Perspective and we see ourselves and others as we really are, flawed yet full of potential, worthy of love, and capable of change. Our hope word, “yet” comes into play, as we say, “I’m not fill in your most familiar yearning of the soul yet.” We know that change is a gift and we claim it with the word yet.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Winston Churchill
Contrast this with the inward focus so often promoted in society. When we focus on ourselves—our image, our problems, or even our perfection—we can become trapped in a hall of mirrors, stuck in an endless loop of self-doubt and over-analysis. Choosing a Creator centered approach, turning outward, clarity emerges. Suddenly, we’re part of something much greater than ourselves. Life looks good.
James Keller- A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Neuroscience confirms this. Helping others activates the brain’s reward centers, releasing chemicals like oxytocin and endorphins that bring joy and satisfaction. Focusing outward in love isn’t just a spiritual principle—it’s a biological one. It clears the “fog” of self-centeredness and opens our hearts and minds to receive divine insight.
Albert Einstein, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”
In the Creator-based® Way, clarity is not just about seeing—it’s about aligning. When our Creator is at the center, we see ourselves and the world as they truly are. We recognize our weaknesses but also our divine potential. We see others not as competitors or obstacles but siblings on the same journey.
By focusing outward, we invite greater light, love, and purpose into our lives. And in doing so, we experience the profound clarity that comes from living in harmony with divine truth.
“In seeking happiness for others, you find it for yourself” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Next time you feel stuck or uncertain, remember the backward law: ‘Focus Out to Bring More In’ and watch as clarity begins to fill your heart and mind.
You’ve got this friend! All my outwardly focused love,
(The inward focused stuff is stuck. Sorry ‘bout that.)
